As for the protest in Ottawa its 12th day, the PM said during QP he’d be speaking with Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson today, & that his government is working with the city & the province to bring the protests that have besieged the downtown to an end. cdnpoli

The federal government is meeting with representatives of the Ontario and Alberta governments, as well as city officials, to clear truck convoys that are clogging border crossings and the streets of downtown Ottawa.

Mendicino said that, after speaking with Alberta Premier Jason Kenney on Monday evening, he’s agreed to send more resources to the U.S. border near Coutts, Alta., where a truck blockade started more than a week ago in solidarity with the anti-vaccine-mandate protest in Ottawa, which began on Jan. 28.

Meanwhile, for the second day, trucks are blocking all but one lane of traffic on the Ambassador Bridge connecting Detroit to Windsor, Ont., the busiest border crossing between the U.S. and Canada. “There is a deep concern, because … these sectors rely on just-in-time delivery, and delays like this could mean massive impacts on the economy, on jobs, on closures, and stores,” Alghabra said.
