Ottawa Titans return for 2023 season opener, with a dozen players from 2022 playoff team returning

The Ottawa Titans, pictured above at last year's home opener, will have a dozen returning players when they kick off the 2023 season on Friday at Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton Park in Ottawa.A year ago at this time, Jackie Urbaez arrived in Ottawa hoping for the best from his first-ever visit to Canada as a player with the freshly minted Frontier League Titans.

As a team, the Titans exceeded expectations as a first-year franchise, giving their fans a taste of tight late regular-season drama before qualifying for the playoffs with a 56-39 record. “We’ve got some players coming back and you build with that,” said Brown, the San Louis Obispo, Ca., native, with a long track record in independent baseball. “From my perspective, you build from having a great relationship with the general manager , knowing the radio guy and the people around the stadium. You’re not looking around and trying to observe so much. You kind of already know what you’re doing, which is wonderful.

Brown is banking on returning third baseman A.J. Wright , catcher Tyrus Greene and outfielder Jason Dichochea to once again deliver. Gabe Snyder, a 2018 Minnesota Twins draft pick, is a big bat who could help replace Sanford. A first baseman/outfielder, he hit .259 with 18 home runs and 54 RBI with Sioux City last season.

Brown is also pumped about the prospect of converted shortstop Gleyvin Pineda, who is now trying his hand at pitching full time.
