As has been the case so often been the case lately, the Senators will be sporting yet another new look against the Capitals because of another injury. Defenceman Jacob Bernard-Docker, who has been out of the lineup since Nov. 19 with an ankle injury, is expected to step right up into a top pairing assignment alongside Thomas Chabot due to Nikita Zaitsev’s leg injury.Article content
Due to the extended Christmas break — the Senators were off for four days before facing the Bruins — Bernard-Docker has had limited ice time to get back to speed, but he’s anxious to get rolling again.Article content Alex DeBrincat, who has registered at least a point in 11 of his past 12 games , had a goal and a shootout winner versus the Bruins. After assisting on Stutzle’s goal, Drake Batherson has extended his point scoring streak to 11 games, the longest for the Senators since Jason Spezza way back in the 2011-12 season.
“I can’t really describe it,” Talbot said of the flurry. “You’re just focussing on that puck to try and get your body or whatever you can in front of it. That’s all I was trying to do. I felt like I left a few too many rebounds out there and gave them too many second chances, but more often than not, we were able to clear those and make the stops. It was a great job by our guys battling, going down to five after one period. That’s never an easy task against those guys.
