The city\u0027s chief medical officer has urged Ottawa residents to consider limiting personal contacts and businesses to consider requiring customers to wear masks indoors.

The Ottawa Hospital has seen an increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations and continues to manage staffing challenges, a spokesperson said Friday.

The Ottawa Hospital also moved last week to intermediate visitor restrictions. This means patients can have one visitor per day for an hour, she said.Article content “However, due to staffing shortages, we have not yet been able to return our surgical operation to full capacity,” a spokesperson said. At CHEO, 115 staff have been restricted from the hospital for COVID-related reasons, such as testing positive or being close contacts of someone who has tested positive. This number has been rising in the past few weeks, a spokesperson said.
