Marcelle Smith was diagnosed with multiple myeloma on her 46th birthday in 2015. It is a form of blood cancer that affects plasma cells. A second assessment upheld the diagnosis. “It was a hard pill to swallow,” she said. “That’s when I started to process everything.”
