Oscars co-hosts WandaSykes, ReginaHall and AmySchumer took aim at Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill by saying the AcademyAwards show would be a “gay night.” Full story here:
Sykes, who came out as a lesbian in 2008, ended the monologue by saying,"we're gonna have a great night tonight. And for you people in Florida. We're gonna have a gay night." Fellow hosts Regina Hall and Amy Schumer then joined her in saying,"gay" eight times.
This jibe comes a few weeks after the Florida state legislature passed the legislation, which says:"Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards."
