DNEG is Vancouver’s second-largest VFX company by employment
Double Negative Ltd. , the VFX company that helped bring Oscars to Vancouver last awards seasonfor its work on Dune, is hiring Adriano Rinaldi to lead its local offices.
DNEG is the second-largest VFX company operating in Vancouver with what it says are 600-plus employees, and is quickly closing in on the largest local VFX firm: Sony Pictures Imageworks Inc.Executive vice-president of VFX operations, Jeannette Manifold, cited in a press release Rinaldi’s experience and hands-on operational know-how as reasons for the hire.
Rinaldi recently worked as VFX supervisor on Marvel’s Eternals during his four-year stint at Scanline VFX, a Germany-headquartered VFX company that also has offices in Vancouver. Before that, he was head of creative operations for Moving Picture Co.’s Vancouver office, where the press release notes he helped build the company’s local presence and contributed to process improvements that raised creative standards.
Rinaldi will assume day-to-day responsibilities for the Vancouver offices, taking over from previous general manager Stu Farley.company’s success in creating world-class visual effects and animation is thrilling,” Rinaldi in a statement. “I look forward to working with the talented teams at DNEG and to the continued delivery of innovative and outstanding work to our clients.”
