With the constant postponement of the much-anticipated Cabinet reshuffle, we can safely say that it's not going to be as straightforward as we had hoped for.Well, I mean Cyril Ramaphosa appointing Paul Mashatile as his deputy president, getting rid of Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and Lindiwe Sisulu since they openly questioned his leadership, and ridding his Cabinet of ineffective ministers, such as Bheki Cele, because the police have failed us on all fronts.
I know Mashatile was not your first choice at the elective conference, but you don't always get what you want wish for. The same advisers around you, who are now wanting to influence you against Mashatile, are the same people who failed to effectively broker a deal between Oscar Mabuyane and Ronald Lamola, and the result was a victory for Mashatile.
This way, you also guarantee a bulwark, in case the Phala Phala saga wants to haunt you into your private life. This is the smart thing to do, Mr President. And may I also just comment on this notion that Mashatile is already positioning himself for the top job. Is this really news? You readied yourself for the top job, as deputy to Jacob Zuma, and so did Thabo Mbeki, with regards to Nelson Mandela.
