Health Minister Tom Osborne says he is looking forward to seeing the results of a meeting between Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Canada’s premiers on federal health care funding.Osborne, who has been speaking with the federal minister, will meet with his Atlantic counterparts next week.
He says they have some idea of what will be coming down, and they are optimistic about the final result. Political analyst Tim Powers says the premiers and the Prime Minister’s Office are all tempering expectations around what can be achieved and how it will work. He says when the meeting occurs, there will likely be “a lot of positive noises about solutions” but there probably won’t be a deal on a final figure until the federal budget in March. Massive challenges will remain says Powers even when a deal is reached.
