Ornge says anair ambulance was struck by two lasers while transporting patient to Ottawa hospital. If an individual is convicted of pointing a laser at an aircraft, they could face up to $100,000 in fines and five years in prison.
Ornge says one of its air ambulance helicopters was struck by blue and green lasers while transporting a patient to an Ottawa hospital.
The laser reportedly originated from an area to the east of Central Experimental Farm, near Ottawa Civic Hospital, Ornge said. Pointing lasers at aircraft can cause temporary or permanent blindness, create a glare in the cockpit that impacts a pilot’s vision, or cause injury to patients or other crew members inside the aircraft.
