Orna Guralnik, the therapist and star of the hit television show 'Couples Therapy,' wants viewers to take a seat on her couch. During the last three seasons of the award-winning Showtime docuseries, Guralnik has invited the world into her office to join in real-life couples therapy sessions as she guides clients through real conflicts and breakthroughs.

'The key issue on the level of communication is distinguishing between talking and trying to convince someone listening and trying to understand someone,' says Guralnik. “I think learning how to make a real distinction between those two modes is really essential,” says Guralnik. Couples who emphasize trying to listen and understand what their partner is saying or feeling are often more successful, she adds.
