Orlando Pirates have been urged to make a wise decision on a Bafana Bafana midfielder whose contract is nearing an end.
In the recent two international friendlies for Bafana, Pirates midfielder Thabang Monare started in both as he was working on impressing coach Hugo Broos although things didn’t go well for Mzansi after losing 5-0 to France, following their 0-0 draw against Guinea. While he will be working on impressing Broos for more national team call-ups going forward, the 32-year-old will also be eager to know about his future with the Buccaneers in the upcoming months.
Having joined Bucs from Bidvest Wits in 2020, Monare will see his contract expire in June though the club is believed to be keen to extend the deal, as reported in edition 1267 of Soccer Laduma.Monare’s former teammate from Jomo Cosmos Themba Shabalala has been impressed and has advised that the Embalenhle-born player should be rewarded with a new contract.
“Honestly, Thabang has grown in leaps and bounds as a player and his game is on a different level of improvement. Having done well at Cosmos, he continued improving at Wits and now at Pirates he is reaping the rewards of his hard work as he has also been called up to Bafana Bafana. Against France, he tried his best and you could see the effort although as a team we just could not match those guys as they are on another level,” said Shabalala, speaking to the Siya crew.
