34-year-old Thabang Monarehas been a stalwart for Pirates since joining in 2020 from Wits. joined Pirates in October 2020 from Bidvest Wits. He’s clocked up 93 appearances for the Sea Robbers, scooping three MTN8 titles and a Nedbank Cup. He was also part of the Bafana Bafana squad at Afcon that reached the semi-finals and eventually claimed the bronze model in Cote d’Ivoire.
Thabang Monare has only featured for 22 minutes of action since returning from Afcon. Jose Riveiro has a wealth of midfield options at his disposal. Right now, Makhehlene Makhaula, Miguel Timm and Thalente Mbatha are all ahead of the former Jomo Cosmos man in the engine room pecking order. If this is Monare’s final season with the Buccaneers, he’d love to go out in style by helping them to Nedbank Cup glory for the second consecutive season.
