Orlando Pirates have been handed a major boost ahead of Thursday's clash against AmaZulu after a key Usuthu player was ruled out for the encounter. Read more ➡️

Fresh from recording a 2-1 come-from-behind win over Marumo Gallants earlier this week, Orlando Pirates will play host to AmaZulu at the Orlando Stadium on Thursday evening.

Usuthu travel to Soweto on the back of a morale-boosting win over league-leaders Mamelodi Sundowns but remain without the services of star goalkeeper and vice-captain, Veli Mothwa, who was injured in the club's defeat to Chippa United last week. "Veli got injured during the goal he conceded against Chippa," AmaZulu coach Benni McCarthy revealed after Monday's win over Masandawana.made a tackle on him and caught him on the ankle. His ankle is swollen like a mini cricket ball. He has gone for a scan so we don’t know how long he will be out for but he will definitely not be available for Pirates.

“When it comes to AmaZulu and the officiating, I think they don’t care too much about protecting the goalkeepers, so Veli Mothwa got injured in the goal he conceded against Chippa, and then he managed to play on but after the game, he felt the effects on his ankle." Neil Boshoff has filled in for AmaZulu in Mothwa's absence and kept consecutive clean sheets in the club's victories of Marumo Gallants and Sundowns.
