Original Pink Ranger Amy Jo Johnson takes to Twitter to further explain her absence from the upcoming Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always' Pink Ranger absence has been further explained by original star Amy Jo Johnson. The television special is an upcoming 30th anniversary celebration that will feature several original cast members including David Yost, Walter Jones, Steve Cardenas, Johnny Yong Bosch reuniting to fight villain Rita Repulsa after the death of Trini the Yellow Ranger.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT On Twitter, Johnson clarified her comments about the Power Rangers reunion special. She explained that her not wanting to appear in the reunion special wasn't merely a money issue. She offered several alternative options including "maybe I just didn’t want to wear spandex in my 50s," ultimately saying her decision isn't anybody's business.
Everything Amy Jo Johnson Has Done Since Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Johnson has previously proven amenable to honoring her Mighty Morphin Power Rangers legacy. She even appeared alongside her co-star Frank for a brief cameo as a towns person in the 2016 movie reboot Power Rangers. Whatever her reasons for not appearing in the more demanding shoot for the anniversary special, she has built quite a career since her tenure on the original series ended.
In addition to her work on camera, Johnson has also spread her wings behind-the-scenes. This includes sitting in the director's chair for several projects, most recently an episode of the CW Arrowverse series Superman & Lois in 2022. With all the projects she has on her plate, it makes sense she may not have had the time to commit to Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always.
