Oregon police are on the lookout for an arsonist giving a new meaning to Hot Wheels on Sunday.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office stated in a media release it was alerted to a car that was"fully engulfed in flames" behind a store on Sunday morning. After reviewing security footage of the area, authorities found a suspect walking up to the gas tank area of the car with something in his or her hand seconds before the explosion."The subject backed away and the video showed the subject’s hand or arm on fire," the media release read.
The arson suspect was wearing a dark hoodie, backpack, and dark pants in the security footage reviewed by authorities. Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Property Crimes Unit are leading the investigation of the suspect.The sheriff's office is asking anyone who has information about the crime or has seen a person matching the description of the suspect to call 503-846-2700.
