Opposition leaders expect change, but Ramaphosa has 'no doubt' he'll keep his job
Incumbent president and ANC leader Cyril Ramaphosa, however, believes he will be reinstalled at the Union Buildings.
DA leader John Steenhuisen, in statement released after he voted in his hometown of Durban, said this is a critical election for South Africa. He urged South Africans to"seize this opportunity to end the ANC's decades of governance that has been characterised by unemployment, load shedding, crime and corruption, and inability to deliver on promises".
"The voter will decide in which direction we are going as a country. So, we should be able to see some changes from these elections," he said in a video posted on X by his party. Party leader Herman Mashaba, in a statement after he voted at the Sandton fire station in Johannesburg, recalled when he voted for the first time in 1994. That day, he drew his cross behind the ANC.
