Oppenheimer outperformed Barbie this past weekend at the box office, marking a first since the movies hit theaters in July. Directed by Christopher Nolan, the historical biopic stars Cillian Murphy as the titular American theoretical physicist and "father of the atomic bomb".

Barbie comes in at the number two spot with $35.3 million, with the film having never before lost a weekend to Nolan's World War II movie. Barbie, however, still remains the reigning overall champion, with $1.34 billion earned worldwide against Oppenheimer's $777.
