Speculation Over Nigeria Ruling Party Chair's ResignationThere is a shake-up in Nigeria's ruling party, All Progressives Congress's (APC) after the reported resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu's as national chairman of the party. Vanguard reports that ahead of this week's meeting of the National Caucus and National Executive Committee of the APC, party "bigwigs" had been going about with a list of alleged "sins" committed by Adamu against President Bola Tinubu weeks before the latter declared his interest to vie for the presidency in 2022. There are also among others, allegations that Adamu and party national secretary Senator Iyiola Omisore, withheld vital election funding from Tinubu and others at the start of their election campaigns. Adamu became the party's national chairperson in March 2022. The APC won the February 2023 elections, with President Bola Tinubu succeeding former president Muhammadu Buhari.
