Opinion: Look to France for a lesson on nuclear fuel recycling [Opinion]
In your editorial, you cite an argument by anti-nuclear critics who “note the failure of the U.S. government to find a long-term solution to the need to safely store nuclear waste.” This statement is subtly misleading.
Government technical experts have found a solution. I know because I participated in a technical review of such a plan years ago. Politicians failed to enact the plan for political, not technical reasons. They could fund it tomorrow. Blame the politicians for blackouts. And blame them if any accidents happen to the waste they have left all over the country to make the people afraid.
