There’ll be a lot of quiet celebrating — some of it maybe not so quiet —To see a former president, especially this former president, dragged before the bar of justice will thrill many people.
Still, nailing Trump on these questionable charges is akin to going after a serial killer for stealing office supplies. It isn’t even on the same level asa parallel that’s been going the rounds. Capone’s offence was serious and flagrant; his conviction way back in 1931 was a slam-dunk. Take, for example, the Washington Post, hardly a friend of Trump. The former president has reserved some choice insults for the paper; among others he’s called it “a disgrace to journalism” and “thoroughly disgusting.”
