From WSJopinion: As school choice expands around the country, Georgia is falling behind. If Gov. Kemp wants an education legacy, choice in 2024 is his chance.

The Editorial BoardHope for school choice progress in Georgia suffered a setback last week, as 16 state House Republicans voted against a bill that would have helped students in the worst-performing district schools obtain other education options.

The bill passed the Senate with a comfortable margin. But it failed in the House, 89-85, with one Democrat in favor. Many of the Republican opponents were from rural districts and fell for the line that the proposed $6,500 education savings accounts would have hurt rural constituents or devastated public schools. There’s no evidence for that. Six GOP opponents had been endorsed by the teachers union, which lobbied hard against the bill.
