Russia's continued invasion of Ukraine is causing global instability, which has made emerging markets less attractive to investors wanting to avoid risk. This has already starved South Africa of much-needed new investment, but also caused some withdrawal of existing investments. The net effect of the above issues is that South Africa is in for a rough ride over the next four to six months at least, with many of the drivers of these adverse conditions having been brought on ourselves through poor choices. Most of these choices are reversible with the right political will, but the indicators all point to continued indecisiveness.
