Social work professor details the lack of knowledge, leadership and expertise in those making decisions in the provincial ministry.

Examples of the effects can be seen in the number of experienced staff that have left, vacancies that are slowly being filled by new, inexperienced staff who are indoctrinated quickly into the new version of child intervention services. When the government is your employer, it is extremely difficult to push back, question or hesitate. This challenge is further intensified by political perspectives fuelled by the desire to be elected and not by the best interests of those they are there to serve.

Delayed responses may result in escalation of risk and the need for more intrusive responses. No surprise when staff vacancy rates are high.
