Voter turnout, however, has declined steadily, with the youth becoming increasingly apathetic. Load shedding, lack of service delivery, protests, unemployment, corruption, lack of accountability and transparency, and the rising cost of living are only a few of the challenges facing South Africans. The decisions made by those in power have lasting repercussions. Unfortunately, these repercussions have the most significant impact on the youth – on young South Africans like me.

Every vote is a single voice that holds equal weight. Where those before me had to fight, and sometimes die, to secure that right, I was born with it.
