Letter from chief executives says citizens and ratepayers are faced with electricity supply shortfalls
In a letter addressed to SNC-Lavalin’s nuclear division president and the union president of the Society of Professional Engineers and Associates, the chief executives of the two companies said citizens and ratepayers are faced with electricity supply shortfalls as they manage through the program and “unnecessary” delays to activities.
They said the industry in Ontario is in “a very delicate and fragile situation” as critical projects have been challenged with external factors along with essential outage and operational activities. The union began a rotating strike at the Darlington Nuclear Generating Station on May 29 and is currently holding picket lines at Candu’s office in Mississauga, Ont.
