A total of 252 suspects were arrested and 74 traffic fines to the value of R31 300 were issued during the Okae Molao operation held in North Rand Road between July 21 and 22.
The operation, led by Ekurhuleni District commissioner Major Anna Sithole, was joined by Deputy Commissioner Brigadier Lebohang Machakela, SAPS members, EMPD, JMPD, security companies and CPF members.
“We choose locations based on the suitablilty to stop cars without causing traffic problems. Over and above that we decided to come to Boksburg because the city has experienced crime in terms of attempted murder, rape and house robberies,” said Machakela. The others were arrested for being in possession of stolen property, possession of stolen motor vehicles, conspiracy to commit rape and pointing a firearm at someone.
