“AI-enabled biological threats could pose a significant risk, but existing work has not assessed how multimodal, frontier models could lower the barrier of entry for non-experts to create a biological threat,” Los Alamos lab said in a statement published on Reached for comment over email, a spokesperson for OpenAI tried to emphasize the idea that artificial intelligence itself isn’t a threat, suggesting that misuse of AI was the real threat.
