Monday, September 19 is a holiday in BritishColumbia, but figuring out what's open and what isn't is tricky. Here's a cheat sheet.
There’s a lot of betwixt and between, with many parents in British Columbia irritated that they now have to scramble to find childcare as a result of schools being closed but most businesses remaining open.
If you have plans, it’s best to be safe than sorry and look up operating hours beforehand for wherever you’re going, since private businesses have been given the power to decide on their own.Additionally, Monday, September 19 will not be a statutory holiday, which means private-sector employees will not be paid an additional wage if they work that day.
“We encourage private-sector employers to find a way to recognize or reflect on the day in a way that is appropriate for their employees”, Premier Horgan said. An official commemoration service and ceremony will take place at the BC Parliament Buildings beginning 10:15 a.m. and make its way to Christ Church Cathedral. God rest the Queen.
