Bigwind Lake Provincial Park will become the 116th operating provincial park in Ontario, further expanding recreational opportunities for families and preserving the province's natural beauty.

The Ontario government has revealed plans for the creation of its first all-season, full-service provincial park in over 40 years.

Covering nearly 5,000 acres , Bigwind Lake Provincial Park surpasses the size of neighbouring Arrowhead Provincial Park by one and a half times. Its remarkable ecological diversity showcases five named lakes, extensive upland forests, and enchanting marshes and meadows, providing a picturesque backdrop for outdoor enthusiasts.

To ensure a collaborative approach, the government plans to engage Indigenous communities, local municipalities, stakeholders, and the public in discussions regarding the proposed new operating park. Individuals are encouraged to provide their input on the park's design features until August 6. Construction is expected to commence in the fall of 2024.
