A sequel show to One Tree Hill is in the works at Netflix, with two original stars set to return and one actor reportedly not reprising his role. Even though a possible revival of One Tree Hill has garnered occasional headlines, it hasn't quite come to fruition until now.
Deadline reports that a revival of One Tree Hill is in development on Netflix. Original cast members Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton are set to executive produce and reprise their roles of Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer, respectively. The sequel show hails from writer and producer Becky Hartman Edwards and Warner Bros. TV. Jensen Ackles and Danneel Ackles will also executive produce through their Chaos Machine banner, with Danneel in talks to return as Rachel Scott.
The One Tree Hill Sequel Show Is A Long Time Coming The Stars Have Pushed For It Close Burton has made no secret about her desire to reboot One Tree Hill. In a social media post from back in March 2021, the Walking Dead actor responded to a tweet that revealed a photo from One Tree Hill was being used in a textbook for adolescent psychology. The caption for the photo discussed the ways in which adolescents were exposed to sex in many different contexts.
Bush responded to the tweet with a co-sign. And now, more than three years, One Tree Hill is moving ahead with someone new at the top. This is particularly crucial given that the original series creator Mark Schwan was accused by the women of the cast and crew of sexual harassment. Burton and Bush are among the women who have gone on the record, detailing their experiences with the show creator. Schwan has no involvement with the sequel show.
