The new location, though, appears to be just outside the UBC border at the University Village mini-mall,Kay acknowledges in the new company statement that “this was a big victory for us after a contentious debate around public safety and community fit.”

UBC students seemed all in on the cannabis dispensary, but a reported 90 per cent of submissions from nearby residents and businesses gave the proposed store a thumbs-down, pernoted, “by opening a cannabis retail store, more cannabis store customers will be attracted to the campus for purposes unrelated to the university.”

Citing the high density of minors in the area, it argued that by allowing cannabis retail in the local business plaza, “we are putting vulnerable children at a high risk of exposure to substances they are too young for.”Share this article in your social network
