Police have revealed that one person was killed and two wounded in a wild shooting incident on the N2 in Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape. Two people have been arrested.
Police say the incident happened on Thursday but they are only now releasing details of the shooting. They say the occupants of a bakkie opened fire on four men travelling in a car. They then collided causing the bakkie to crash.Police spokesperson, Sandra Janse van Rensburg, says the bakkie that crashed was reported stolen last month.
“The driver of the silver VW Polo drove to Livingstone hospital as two of the four passengers sustained gunshots. While the Blue Polo continued on the N2. Preliminary investigations revealed that one passenger from the Ford Ranger had fled the scene, the driver passed away and two more passengers were injured. Two firearms and ammunition were confiscated at the scene and the two passengers that were injured were arrested and taken to hospital.
