The crash happened about 11:05 p.m. Sunday night.
BYRON — A passenger died, and the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs late Saturday after a one-car crash on the Byron Highway, the California Highway Patrol said.According to the CHP, a Chevrolet Suburban with two people inside left the roadway and hit a dirt embankment. Authorities pronounced the passenger dead at the scene. They did not identify him, pending notification of relatives.
The driver suffered major injuries and was arrested at the hospital on suspicion of DUI, the CHP said. The CHP was looking for people who were witnesses to the crash and asked anyone who knows anything to call 925-646-4980 or email [email protected].
