TOKYO: One person is dead and three missing in landslides in southwestern Japan, authorities said on Monday , as the country's weather agency warned of the"heaviest rain ever" in the region.
"A special heavy rain warning has been issued for municipalities in Fukuoka Prefecture. This is the heaviest rain ever experienced" by the region, Satoshi Sugimoto of the JMA's forecast division told reporters. The prime minister's office said a taskforce had been established to coordinate a response to the rains.
