This table may actually be indestructible. OK, I haven’t taken our chain saw to it or heaved it off a cliff, but after nearly three years, it still looks new. And those were rough years: We had 100-plus degree weather. Sleet and hail. Our giantand dumped bushels-worth of acorns onto the table with such force it sounded as if we were under attack. We had an epic ice storm that resulted in a branch the size of a Mini Cooper crashing onto our Loll table.
Loll Designs, based in Duluth, Minn., goes out of its way to alleviate any guilt you may feel about purchasing a large, non-wood piece of furniture. My table is made from high-density polyethylene sourced primarily from milk jugs, the company says, adding that HDP is highly recyclable and is part of Loll’s role in “the circular economy.”
Style-wise, the table has a simple silhouette and construction that complements our midcentury home’s stone patio, but would suit most homes, whether a contemporary mountain house backyard or beach house deck. My table is charcoal gray, but it comes in eight other shades.
