The Edinburgh star has had a long-running feud with Jakob Ingebrigtsen and believes it would make for great TV.
Scotland's Olympic poster boy Josh Kerr has urged Netflix to capitalise on the men’s 1500m rivalry for their next documentary by promising: 'We could spice it up', writes Fraser Wilson in Paris.
Now the Scot, who is featuring in Netflix documentary Sprint, reckons his 1500m rivals would make for compelling viewing. He said: “I think it would be cool. There would be some compelling stories. Maybe some of the guys are a little bit boring but I’m sure we could spice it up enough. I’ve not finished Sprint yet but I’m really enjoying it. I think they did a really good job with it. If you were going to pick another discipline it’s difficult not to look at the men’s 1500.
Kerr’s feud with Ingebrigtsen goes back over a year to when he beat the Norwegian to the world championship gold. Ingebrigtsen claimed he wasn’t feeling 100 per cent for the Budapest showdown and dubbed Kerr “just the next guy”. Leading up to the Olympics the Scandinavian dug in deeper claiming Kerr was the “Brit who never competes” given Kerr hadn’t raced at the distance all season.
“But we will see. I can’t see him running the 1500m for another whole Olympic cycle but again he is running really fast times so it’s not for me to determine. I’ll be sticking to my 1500. I don’t think my 13.3 is going to get me anywhere near the medals in a 5k any time soon.”
