The ceremony will feature a fleet of barges taking nearly 7,000 athletes on the river, by some of Paris' most famous landmarks. It had been raining on and off earlier in the evening in Paris and weather forecasters have predicted heavy showers, with one meteorologist even calling it a"disaster" for the open-air ceremony.
But in a hint of what may come at the ceremony, a Reuters reporter saw pop superstar Lady Gaga rehearsing on Friday at the heart of Paris, singing"Mon truc en plumes" , a classic 20th-century French cabaret song.
