Olympic blow: Injury forces unlucky SA swimmer Lara van Niekerk to withdraw from Paris 2024
Injury has forced South African medal prospect Lara van Niekerk to abandon her dream of making her Olympics debut in Paris in July.
The 21-year-old breaststroker was hoping to qualify for the Paris Games having missed out on qualification at the SA National Swimming Championships at Newton Park in Gqeberha in April., she had swum the 100m breaststroke in just below the required 1min 06.79sec in two local galas in 2023 after the Olympic qualifying window had opened in March that year.South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future.
