OLMSTED FALLS, Ohio -- The surprise resignation last week of Council-at-Large representative Lori Jones left Olmsted Falls City Council with a few options. However, Jones’ departure meant candidates on the fall ballot -- incumbents Brian David Chitester and Cornel R. Munteanu along with political newcomer Megan Coy -- would be elected to the three vacant seats.
“The second thing is wait until after the election, but that means the seat sits empty. The third option was to have her come in and see if she wanted to fill Ms. Jones’ vacant seat. No matter what, she’s going to be in.”“I initially ran for office because I was interested in becoming more involved with local government and wanted to serve as a connection between residents and the city,” she said.
“When I decided to run, I started attending the council meetings as a resident in the audience to continue learning more and be better prepared in the event I was elected. So when asked by Council if I would like to be appointed now, I agreed to take the seat.” Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Jennifer O’Donnell will be swearing in Coy at the Tuesday Olmsted Falls City Council Meeting. If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
