Captain Olivia Benson gets attacked in a brand-new Law & Order: SVU season 24 trailer. TV's longest-running scripted show is currently on its mandatory winter break, but it is scheduled to roll out fresh outings in the new year. Following the rather emotional exit of Kelli Giddish's Amanda Rollins from the SVU, who decided to leave and take on a new job following a harrowing year, it seems like the team isn't getting a breather any time soon.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY As set up in the season 24 fall finale, which was also Giddish's final outing as Rollins, an old case is coming back to haunt Benson. The new Law & Order: SVU season 24 episode 10 trailer picks up after the cliffhanger ending of the outing and shows more of how gang members that were the subject of Benson's previous work appear to seek revenge against her.
So, while Giddish's absence will definitely alter the series in significant ways, don't expect the show to dwell on its repercussions for too long. Instead, Law & Order: SVU will likely shift the focus back on Benson, as proven by this upcoming plotline that will put her in jeopardy.
For what it's worth, Benson isn't exactly new to being in a dangerous situation. Working on the New York police force for more than two decades, she's had her fair share of traumatic experiences. If anything, it may even reinvigorate her to more actively pursue the gang on Law & Order: SVU, which could result in an exciting storyline.
