The Ohio Supreme Court denied a request to remove several clerk and judicial candidates for Cleveland Municipal Court from the Nov. 7 ballot.
by Cleveland resident Mariah Crenshaw, who sued the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections, its director Anthony Perlatti and some of its staff, arguing the at-large clerk and judicial candidacies failed to comply with requirements in the city’s charter.
Crenshaw and another person, who didn’t participate in the Supreme Court case, first approached the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections with their concerns. In state law, the candidate nominating process varies by population. The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections properly applied the law for courts in areas of population at or over 100,000 people, the court said.
