Caleb Burton is in the transfer portal after one season with the Buckeyes, becoming the first member of Ohio State’s 2022 class to leave the team.
, and C.J. Stroud identified Burton as a Buckeye who had “done a hell of a job” and “gotten a lot better.”of spring practices prevented Burton from showing what he could do this spring. In the most loaded position group on Ohio State’s roster, Burton was likely to be buried on the depth chart once again in 2023.
After the first spring practice alone, Ryan Day said first-year early enrollee wideouts Carnell Tate, Noah Rogers and Bryson Rodgers were already pushing the second-year Buckeyes in the position group, and Tate went on to tie for the team lead in offensive snaps played during the spring game. Not to mention, five-star wide receiver recruit Brandon Inniss – the top-rated prospect in Ohio State's 2023 class – will join the program this summer.
“The truth is they're gonna get really pushed by this freshman group. The three guys that came in have already made an impact,” Day said last month. “We've been very impressed with them. And then Brandon coming in this summer.
