“I have to have surgery on my foot because it's gotten that bad since the third game,” Henderson told The Dispatch. “I’ve just been making it worse going back out there.” “It’s real painful. I barely practiced all season. I went through a bunch of different cleats to try to push through it, but the pain was crazy. I really don’t know how I was able to push through it in the games I did play in. I just tried to do the best I can.”
Henderson initially suffered the injury during Ohio State’s third game of the season against Toledo. He returned to play in five of the Buckeyes’ final nine games but was never fully healthy.Henderson finishes his sophomore season with only 571 yards and six touchdowns on 107 carries. By comparison, Henderson ran for 1,255 yards and 15 touchdowns on 184 carries as a true freshman.
Without Henderson, Ohio State’s running back rotation will likely consist of some combination of Miyan Williams, Dallan Hayden and Chip Trayanum when the Buckeyes play Georgia in the Peach Bowl. Williams is also working his way back to health after he suffered an ankle sprain in the Buckeyes’ third-to-last game of the regular season against Indiana, but was healthy enough to play against Michigan, albeit in a limited capacity.
