Ohio State's defense completely and totally shut down Penn State's offense on Saturday.
COLUMBUS, Ohio — For a game that didn’t have larger than a one possession lead until the final minutes, it sure never felt like Ohio State was in any serious danger.On its most impressive outing of the season, the Buckeye defense was downright dominant in every sense of the word. The Nittany Lions went a staggering 1 for 16 on third downs. Penn State quarterback Drew Allar completed just 18 passes on 42 attempts for 191 yards.
Penn State had 161 yards of offense while Ohio State had 187 yards, and both quarterbacks combined for 17 of 38 passing for 216 yards passing. Both the Nittany Lions and Buckeyes combined to go 3 of 15 on third down, as one large mistake — a Kyle McCord fumble returned for a touchdown — was wiped off the board.
The Buckeyes have now gotten through their two toughest games of the season clean, and that means they still have their entire season’s goals in front of them.Ohio State will travel to Wisconsin to play a night kickoff in Camp Randall. The Buckeyes will enter 7-0, and with games against Rutgers, Michigan State and Minnesota to follow, they have a clear path to entering the game in Ann Arbor against Michigan still unbeaten.
