Ohio man accused of threatening shooting at California middle school

Alex Jaques, 21, of Centerville, Ohio, is charged with making interstate threats, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Ohio.

A news release from the attorney’s office says investigators with the FBI National Threat Operations Center were told last week about a video Jaques had posted on YouTube. The video reportedly shows Jaques shooting a Chromebook computer with an Uzi-style weapon and a rifle-style firearm while threatening to attack Washington Middle School in Salinas, Calif.

A sticker with the school’s name on it was on the computer, authorities say. Jaques had once attended a school in the same county as the middle school, according to prosecutors. The news release does not say why Jaques reportedly threatened the school. Investigators say other videos posted on YouTube show Jaques shooting at street signs with a handgun while driving.
