Additional officials with the embattled Prichard Water Works are facing felony theft charges for their role in a wide-ranging probe into a misuse of funds.
Two more officials with the embattled Prichard Water Works are facing felony theft charges for their role in a wide-ranging probe into a misuse of funds.
Teresa Lewis, who served as the board’s physical services manager; and Randy Burden, the former public service supervisor, were each indicated on a charge of aggravated theft of property by deception, a Class A felony that could carry a minimum prison sentence of 10 years. They were also each charged with theft of property first-degree, a Class B felony.
The latest indictments come after a Mobile County grand jury indicted the water board’s ex-manager, Nia Bradley, on the same charges. Her husband, Anthony Bradley -- the former operations manager -- faces charges of fraudulent use of a credit card and for receiving stolen property first-degree, a Class Be felony.
Bradley’s indictment suggests that between January 1, 2018 to August 31, 2019, she obtained unauthorized control of more than $2,500 in water board property. Burden and Lewis are also accused of mishandling more than $2,500 in water board property.Bradley’s role in the alleged thefts stirred the criminal probe by the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office, which announced the investigation in February.
