A man has been arrested after two police vehicles were rammed by a stolen car prior to a pursuit through the streets of East Belfast.

Police were on patrol in Mountpottinger Road just after 4.50pm on Thursday, Janurary 5, when they stopped behind a car that reversed at speed into the front of their unmarked car injuring two officers.Read more: PSNI appeal after 14-year-old girl 'knocked down' in Carryduff

Inspector Pete Cunningham explained, “While on patrol on Mountpottinger Road just after 4.50pm yesterday afternoon, colleagues from our Auto Crime Team stopped behind a car, which reversed at speed into their unmarked police car. “After carrying out a number of enquiries overnight into the early hours of this morning, Auto Crime Team officers arrested the 29 year old man in East Belfast just after midday. He is currently being questioned in Musgrave Police Station.
