PC Jon-Paul Critchley said he partner was angry at his decision to become a police officer
A police officer who shared private information about a domestic violence suspect has been sacked by Lancashire Police.
According to Julian King, representing the officer, this extended to verbal abuse and controlling behaviour which included constant questioning of his whereabouts and activities. He would be berated if he left early for work and pressured over any occasion where he was late finishing shifts, Mr Kind explained.
PC Critchley was sent to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment to his injuries before returning to the station to complete the necessary paperwork. During this, he took photographs of the document he was working on and sent it to his partner’s mother who was looking after the girl at the time. The screenshot contained details of the incident which had occurred, including the suspect’s full name and the location of the incident.
After the matter was reported, criminal proceedings began and PC Critchley gave no comment when interviewed about in January of this year. In May, he pleaded guilty to disclosing private information and was handed a fine - the maximum possible sentence.
