The Buccaneers supporters invaded the pitch after the Soweto giants defeated Sundowns with an emphatic 3-0 score-line in the second leg of the MTN8 semi-final played in October, at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.The club pleaded guilty to all charges, according to PSL prosecutor Advocate Zola Majavu.
"I can confirm that Orlando Pirates Football Club, earlier this morning, appeared before the PSL DC to answer to spectator misbehavior, in that spectators, fans or supporters invaded the pitch after the final whistle an MTN8 fixture," confirmed Majavu.Pirates was subsequently fined R200 000, half of which is suspended for 24 months, on the condition that they aren’t found guilty of the same offense within a period of 24 months from the ruling.
The club has also been required to pay 50% of the DC costs for the hearing and the remaining R100 000. The Buccaneers have been given a week appeal the ruling.
